A Spontaneous Halloween Adventure.

This Halloween session from 2025 was one of those completely spontaneous ideas that turned into a memory I’ll always love. There was no big plan, no elaborate setup, and no real preparation. I simply looked at my two kids and thought, “Hey—let’s go to the park in your costumes!” So we grabbed our things, headed out, and made a little adventure out of it.

We started at the park, where they got to run around, play, and just be kids. Of course, the camera came along with us, and I couldn’t resist capturing them in their costumes. Afterward, we headed to the convenience store for snacks, which honestly made the whole night even more fun. They had a blast, and somehow we even ended up spending time at the basketball court.

What I loved most about this session was how natural it felt. There was no pressure for perfect poses or perfectly planned photographs. It was just my kids having fun, being silly, playing basketball, eating snacks, and enjoying Halloween together. Those are the kinds of moments I love photographing the most—the ones where the kids are genuinely having a good time and the photos simply happen along the way.

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, so getting to combine my love for Halloween with my love for photography and my kids makes these memories extra special to me. 🖤🎃

I really wish I could make these little Halloween shoots an annual tradition. The year before this one, we did a completely different spooky shoot at an abandoned house and a skate park. Every year seems to bring its own little adventure, and I love looking back at the photos and remembering exactly what we were doing and how much fun we had.

There’s something so special about photographing your own kids when they actually enjoy being in front of the camera. These sessions aren’t about creating perfect pictures—they’re about creating memories. And years from now, I think I’ll treasure the photos of them laughing, playing, running around in their costumes, and being themselves just as much as the big, beautifully planned sessions.

Sometimes the best photo sessions are the ones you never planned at all.
